Space Solo 2 (2017)

This is the final release on the Space Program series, which started with SPACE (2006). Ten releases were originally projected, but i found these six items* have fulfilled the ideas i wanted to explore in a sustained and systematic way. For a number of other reasons i decided that i will be able to move with more room and freedom outside this structure that is now completed. The Solo series are meant to be a reference to my solo performance, on various instruments.

Space Solo 2 features a different set of instruments from Space Solo 1, as planned back in 2005: Modulated Feedback, Electrode Oscillator**, Modular Synthesizer and the old glove-controlled computer sinewaves.

The Modular Synthesizer solo is a highlight of the album, i have rarely performed it live and this recording is an inspired take (um, and i swear it has nothing to do with R2D2). I also like the melodic quality of the Modulated feedback, especially on the opening track.

The CD came out beautifully, a digipak with matte finish featuring Rui Toscano’s drawing and Helder Luis’s graphic design.

*Space, Space Elements Vol. I, II and III, Space Solo 1 and 2.
*The Electrode Oscillator does appear on Space Solo 1 but in a simpler configuration.
